The national elections in Nigeria 2011 were labelled the freest and fairest in the history of the Nigerian democracy. Every election so far had been accompanied by violence but the outbreaks in Northern Nigeria 2011 reached a new level and are a testimony to the grievances in the region and the rising tension. Especially young adults were part of the crisis. Read more


NLC – Interactive session on international cooperation work of the NLC

“Our aim today is to create a road map that will define the commitment of the Nigeria Labour Congress to international cooperation”, Comrade Abdulwahed Omar, President of the NLC, explained on the 11th of March, 2013. The President mentioned the importance of cooperation and solidarity with other African unions as well as with the global union movement. In a globalised world, cooperation between Labour Unions of different countries is more important than ever – e.g. to establish Global Framework Agreements in multinational corporations. Read more
